First Full-sacle prototype in the Spangen neighbourhood in Rotterdam

As initiative of the citizens, the Municipality of Rotterdam, the water authority Delfland, water utility Evides, Bluebloqs has been implemented in a full-scale pilot application in the Urban Waterbuffer project in the Spangen neighbourhood in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.

In this application, urban stormwater run-off is locally collected, treated, stored and reused for the irrigation of the pitches of the Sparta Stadium, saving 15.000 cubic meters of drinking water per year, preventing pluvial flooding and creating a liveable neighbourhood for the inhabitants. Supported by KWR Water and Delft University of Technology, the innovation has been tested through this pilot application, achieving TRL7.
